This is a points and booking guide to La Quinta Resort & Club, a Curio Collection by Hilton property in La Quinta, California. It covers what a night costs in Hilton Honors points, the room types, what Gold and Diamond members get and how to book direct with Hilton.
Why La Quinta Resort matters for Hilton members
La Quinta Resort is the largest Curio Collection by Hilton property on the West Coast, 45 acres of Spanish-style casitas at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains with 5 legendary golf courses and 41 pools. That makes it the default points play for any Hilton Honors member with a trip built around Palm Springs.
The location puts La Quinta Resort within walking distance of the destination’s main draws, which matters because the alternative Hilton-family options in Palm Springs are mostly suburban or convention-hotel scaled and miss the boutique character.
The single best amenity is the 41 climate-controlled pools spread across the resort, including the private patio pool that ships with most of the standard casitas. It is the only Hilton-family property in the US where a private patio pool is the default room feature.
Short version: La Quinta Resort is the largest Curio Collection by Hilton property on the West Coast, 45 acres of Spanish-style casitas at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains with 5 legendary golf courses and 41 pools. Cash rates run $299 to $429 most of the year and climb to $449 to $799 during January through April plus November and December. Award redemptions sit at 55,000 to 75,000 points off-peak and reach 80,000 to 110,000 during peak weeks, which is when the Aspire free night certificate clears its weight. Pay cash during July and August, burn the certificate on a peak weekend, and you have a La Quinta Resort stay that beats every other Hilton option in Palm Springs.

History and architecture, briefly

La Quinta Resort joined the Curio Collection during the brand’s rapid 2018 through 2022 expansion. The property uses the original building bones but reworked every guest room and public space during the Curio conversion. The Spanish Colonial casitas and gardens date to the resort’s 1926 opening.
Walking and driving distances from La Quinta Resort: the Morgan’s in the Desert and Adobe Grill is on site; Joshua Tree National Park access is the main day-trip draw; and the local restaurants in the immediate neighborhood add depth the on-site dining cannot match alone.
La Quinta Resort rooms: book these, skip these
La Quinta Resort has 4 main room categories. The view tier and bed configuration drive the choice.
Book these
- High-floor king with the signature view. Cash rate runs $299 to $429. The single best pick at La Quinta Resort.
- 2 queen with the signature view. Same floors, 2 queens. Best for a family of 4.
- 1 bedroom suite. Top floors only, separate living room, premium view tier. Aspire certificate target during peak weekends.
- Standard king on a mid-floor. Best-value pick when the signature view is sold out or out of budget.
Skip these
- Low-floor street-side rooms during peak weekends. Push for a higher floor at check-in or take the mid-floor king instead.
- The pet-designated rooms if you are not traveling with a pet. They are concentrated in the lowest-cost view tier.
Dining at La Quinta Resort

La Quinta Resort runs the on-site headliner (Morgan’s in the Desert and Adobe Grill) plus room service. The Diamond food and beverage credit applies at the on-site outlets.
- Morgan’s in the Desert and Adobe Grill. Breakfast through dinner with a destination-specific menu. Reservations are smart on weekends.
- Lobby bar. Afternoon through late evening, lighter menu, the spot where guests and locals overlap.
- Room service. Runs the headliner menu with a delivery fee plus gratuity. Skip room service for breakfast and walk down to the restaurant instead.
Hilton Honors strategy at La Quinta Resort
The Hilton Honors strategy at La Quinta Resort comes down to one fact: rates swing hard on the Palm Springs demand calendar. A July and August weekday runs at the cash off-peak floor. A peak weekend during January through April plus November and December crosses the top of the range with the destination charge and parking. That spread decides whether you pay cash, redeem points, or burn the Aspire certificate.
| Season | Cash rate | Award nights | Aspire cert value | Play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peak (January through April plus November and December) | $449 to $799 | 80,000 to 110,000 pts | strong | Burn cert |
| Shoulder | $299 to $429 | 70K to 80K pts | fair | Pay cash |
| Off-peak (July and August) | $199 to $279 | 55,000 to 75,000 pts | weak | Pay cash |
| Avoid (peak holiday weekends at rack rate) | top of range+ | cert often blocked | skip | Skip |
Cash rates by season
La Quinta Resort runs 4 pricing seasons tied to the Palm Springs calendar:
- Peak (January through April plus November and December): $449 to $799 for the signature room, plus around $45 per night in destination charges, plus parking, plus local hotel tax. A 3-night peak stay all-in lands well above the cash rate alone.
- Shoulder: $299 to $429 for the signature room. A 2-night midweek stay is the best value cash window at La Quinta Resort.
- Off-peak (July and August): $199 to $279 for the signature room. Soft weather in July and August but the destination itself is quieter.
- Avoid: peak holiday weekends and any single sold-out week. Cert is often blocked. Redeem points well in advance or pick a different date.
Award rates and Aspire/Surpass certificate value
Standard award redemptions at La Quinta Resort run 55,000 to 75,000 to 80,000 to 110,000 points per night across the calendar. Best use of the Aspire free night certificate is during the January through April plus November and December window where cash rates cross the top of the range and the certificate covers the full peak rate.
- Cert example #1 (good): A peak Saturday at La Quinta Resort at the top of the cash range. Aspire certificate redeems for the same signature room. Strong use.
- Cert example #2 (good): A peak holiday weekend. Cert redeems with override if the booking engine blocks.
- Cert example #3 (weak): An off-peak Tuesday at the floor cash rate. Cert burns a weak value. Save it for a peak weekend.
Rule of thumb: only burn the Aspire free night certificate at La Quinta Resort during the peak window.
Diamond benefits, specifically
The Diamond food and beverage credit at La Quinta Resort is $15 per person per day, usable at the on-site outlets. For 2 registered guests on a 3-night stay, that is $90 in dining credit, enough for breakfast most mornings.
Room upgrades from the standard room to the signature view tier clear about 60% to 75% of the time on midweek check-ins at La Quinta Resort. Suite and casita upgrades at La Quinta depend on occupancy, which peaks from January to April. Hilton does not publish upgrade rates.
Late check-out at 2 pm is honored on request outside of peak weekends. The welcome amenity is a bonus-points option or a property-specific small credit.
Best and worst months to book
Best months: the shoulder windows just before and after the January through April plus November and December window. Weather is similar to peak, rates run 30% to 50% lower, and La Quinta Resort has strong upgrade odds for Diamond members.
Worst weeks to book: any single peak holiday weekend and the busiest weeks within January through April plus November and December. Cash rates double, the certificate is sometimes blocked, and the on-site dining books out.
Honorable mention for value: the deepest part of July and August. La Quinta Resort drops to its floor rate and the destination is at its quietest.
La Quinta Resort: trade-offs

Parking is the line item to watch at La Quinta Resort. Self-parking is $25 per night across the spread-out resort. Valet is $42 per night at the main lobby. Most guests use the self-park lots since the resort runs across 45 acres and a golf-cart shuttle moves you between casita clusters.
The destination charge math: La Quinta Resort charges a daily resort fee that bundles fitness access, bike rental, water, wifi, and pool plus tennis access. La Quinta Resort guests who use the on-site dining offset most of the charge through the credit; guests who skip the on-site outlets pay the full charge with limited benefit.
The fitness center is functional but smaller than the property scale would suggest.
The on-site dining is good but shallow. La Quinta Resort runs essentially one full-service outlet plus the lobby bar. Walk to the surrounding neighborhood for variety; it is the same recommendation I give for almost every boutique Curio.
3 alternatives if La Quinta Resort is sold out, 1 outside Hilton
If La Quinta Resort is fully booked or the price spikes during a peak weekend, 3 nearby options work as substitutes.
- Boulders Resort Scottsdale, Curio Collection by Hilton. 4 hours east in the Sonoran desert, similar acreage and golf focus. Boulders Resort Scottsdale review.
- Parker Palm Springs (independent of Hilton, listed for context). 20 minutes north in Palm Springs, mid-century-modern design and a more eccentric vibe than La Quinta Resort.
- Hotel del Coronado, Curio Collection by Hilton. Pacific oceanfront, 2.5 hours west; pick this if your trip can flex from desert to coast. Hotel del Coronado review.

La Quinta Resort FAQ
Is La Quinta Resort pet friendly?
La Quinta Resort is pet friendly through the PAWS La Quinta program. 1 dog per casita with a $150 fee per stay. Service animals are exempt. The grounds include a dog-friendly walking loop near the spa, and welcome treats arrive at check-in.
What is the destination fee at La Quinta Resort?
La Quinta Resort charges a daily resort fee of around $45 plus tax. It bundles 24-hour fitness center access, 2-hour bike rental, 2 waters per day, wifi, and pool/tennis access. The Aspire certificate does not automatically waive it.
How does parking work at La Quinta Resort?
Self-parking is $25 per night across the spread-out resort. Valet is $42 per night at the main lobby. Most guests use the self-park lots since the resort runs across 45 acres and a golf-cart shuttle moves you between casita clusters.
Can I use the Aspire free night certificate at La Quinta Resort?
Yes, with no published cap. The Hilton booking engine occasionally blocks the certificate during peak weeks; if it blocks, call the property at +1-760-564-4111 and ask the front office to override. Away from peak dates, the override generally goes through.
How close is La Quinta Resort to the main attraction?
The headliner attraction in the area is a short walk or quick drive. The on-site shuttle, free bike rental program (if available), or local transit cover the gaps. Plan to walk in the immediate neighborhood and drive or rideshare for trips beyond a mile.
Rates, fees, and policies change. Verify the destination charge, parking, and pet policy at booking.
