Virgin Hotels Las Vegas: points prices, rooms and Diamond perks (2026)

I haven’t stayed here yet, so this guide uses Hilton’s property page, award prices and published guest reviews, with property details checked October 5, 2026.

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas joined Hilton’s Curio Collection as an off-Strip resort on Paradise Road, with 1,504 rooms and a casino run by Mohegan Sun. Standard awards range from 30,000 points on a summer Tuesday to 90,000 at convention peaks.

Why Virgin Hotels Las Vegas matters for Hilton members

Hilton has 4 properties in Las Vegas: Conrad and Crockfords at Resorts World on the Strip, the Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World, and Virgin Hotels Las Vegas off Strip. Conrad and Crockfords are excellent and they price like it: 90,000 to 150,000 points a night, $400 to $700 cash. Virgin Hotels prices half that.

The property opened on March 25, 2021 in the bones of the old Hard Rock Hotel (which closed in 2020). The casino is run by Mohegan Sun under a separate license, the hotel side is Curio Collection. The Aspire certificate works here, the Diamond F&B credit works here, and the Commons Club lounge is open to suite guests and elite members. That last piece is rare in a casino property.

Short version: Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is the best Hilton-affiliated stay in Vegas if you want a casino on property, a real pool deck, and award rates that make Hilton Honors points worth burning. The Opal Tower is the only one to book. Off-Strip location is the trade-off, not the deal-breaker. Diamond benefits include lounge access at the Commons Club, which is the underrated perk of the property.

History and architecture, briefly

The original Hard Rock Hotel opened in 1995 across Paradise Road from the Las Vegas Convention Center. Richard Branson’s Virgin Group bought the property in 2018 and closed it for a 30-month, $200 million renovation. The 3 towers got renamed: Hard Rock Tower became Opal, Casino Tower became Canyon, and Paradise Tower became Ruby.

The renovation kept the building footprint and replaced almost everything else. The casino dropped from 30,000 sq ft to 60,000 sq ft (yes, it grew). The pool deck got rebuilt with 4 pools, a sandy lounge area, and 29 private cabanas. The music venue from the old Hard Rock days got demolished and replaced with The Theater at Virgin, which is now closed. The hotel uses the Theater space for special events.

The property covers about 17 acres. The walk to the Las Vegas Convention Center is 7 minutes. The walk to the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard at Flamingo) is 20 minutes. The free shuttle to the Strip runs every 30 minutes from 8 AM to midnight.

Rooms: book these, skip these

Book

  • Opal Tower Grand Chamber Suite (around 720 sq ft). This is the entry-level Opal Tower room and the room category to book at this property. Floors 17 to 22 of Opal have the best Strip views (north-facing, full skyline). The room has a separate sitting area, a real desk, and a tub plus shower. Cash rates run $250 mid-week off-peak, $600 on Saturday peak weekends.
  • Opal Tower Penthouse Strip View (around 1,250 sq ft). 1 bedroom, separate living room, terrace with Strip view. Cash rates run $750 to $2,500 depending on the convention calendar. The Aspire certificate sometimes clears here on shoulder Tuesdays. Worth holding the cert for a high-priced weekend if you can find availability.
  • Canyon Tower Premium Chamber (around 380 sq ft). The mid-tier rooms in the middle tower. Same general finish as Opal but the views are pool-side or interior, not Strip. Cheaper. Good for a 2-night gambling-and-show trip if you do not care about the view.

Skip

  • Ruby Tower Standard Chamber (around 350 sq ft). The cheapest building, lowest finish level, slowest elevators. The Ruby Tower elevators sit in a separate bank that requires walking through a connector hall to reach the main casino floor. This adds 4 minutes to every transition through the property. Not worth the $30 to $50 a night savings.
  • Canyon Tower Standard Chamber Interior (around 350 sq ft). Same square footage as the Premium Chamber but the windows look at the parking garage or the building wall. Skip. The price differential to a Premium Chamber is rarely more than $40.

Dining

The property has 11 outlets and the dining is the strongest part of the trip. Almost all of them are real restaurants worth a meal, not casino-floor snack bars.

  • Casa Calavera. Mexican, dinner only, big patio. The al pastor tacos and the mezcal flight are the order. Reservations open 60 days out and fill 2 weeks out for Friday and Saturday.
  • Olivia. Italian, dinner only, the most upscale outlet on property. Chef Brian Massie. Pasta course is the order. Skip the steaks; better steak is 10 minutes away on the Strip.
  • Nobu. Yes, the Nobu, on property, separate building. Sushi, miso black cod, the usual. Diamond F&B credit applies here, which takes about $30 off a Nobu dinner for 2 guests.
  • The Kitchen at Commons Club. All-day, breakfast through dinner. The hotel’s main restaurant. Diamond breakfast credit applies. The avocado toast is fine. The shakshuka is the order.
  • Stay Awhile. Gaming-floor bar, slot machines built into the bar top, surprisingly good craft cocktails. Open 24 hours.
  • Money, Baby! Underground speakeasy-style cocktail bar in the basement near the elevators. No menu, just tell the bartender what you like.
  • Funny Library Coffee Shop. Lobby coffee outlet. Bookshelves of joke books. Worth 1 stop for the gimmick.

Pizza Forte (lobby pizza window), The Bake Shop (pastries), Rivea Lounge (Strip-view bar in Opal), and a couple of grab-and-go spots round out the lineup.

Cash rates by season

Las Vegas has 4 distinct rate seasons and Virgin Hotels follows them:

  • Convention peak (CES early January, EDC late May, F1 mid-November): $500 to $900 standard king. Convention center is across the street; rates double. Avoid unless you are attending the convention.
  • Holiday peak (New Year’s Eve, July 4 weekend): $600 to $1,200 standard king. NYE has a 3-night minimum.
  • Shoulder weekend (most Saturdays October to April excluding above): $250 to $400 standard king.
  • Off-peak weekday (Sunday to Thursday in summer or non-event weeks): $90 to $180 standard king. Yes, real Las Vegas rate.

Resort fee is $50 per night plus tax. Self-parking is $20 per night for hotel guests, valet is $35.

Award rates and Aspire/Surpass certificate value

Standard award nights at Virgin Hotels run from 30,000 points off-peak Tuesday in summer to 90,000 points on convention peak. The Aspire certificate is good for any standard room, no published cap.

The math from real bookings:

  • CES week 2026 Aspire certificate: Opal Grand Chamber Suite, cash rate $819. Value extracted: roughly $870 net of resort fee waiver. Good cert use.
  • March 2025 cash mid-week: Opal Grand Chamber Suite, $189 a night for 3 nights. Total all-in $760. Booked through Honors with the 5th-night-free benefit on the next stay. Reasonable.
  • September 2024 standard award: 50,000 points for a Canyon Premium Chamber, cash rate $164. Value: 0.33 cents per point. Way below my floor. Should have paid cash.

The clear play: save the Aspire certificate for a convention week or NYE. Pay cash mid-week off-peak. Skip standard award nights here in low-rate weeks because the cash rate is too low to justify the points.

The Surpass free night certificate (triggered by $15,000 of card spend per calendar year) makes much better sense at this property. Surpass works on shoulder weekends where cash rate is $250 to $400. The certificate plus the $25 Diamond credit covers a Saturday for under the cost of dinner.

Diamond benefits, specifically

Diamond gets the $15 per person daily F&B credit and access to the Commons Club Lounge. The lounge is open to all suite guests and Diamond members, serves a continental breakfast 7 to 10 AM, snacks 4 to 6 PM, and a free cocktail hour 5 to 7 PM. This is rare for a casino-attached Hilton property and is the reason to book this hotel over Conrad at Resorts World if Diamond is your status floor.

Suite upgrades for Diamond at Virgin Hotels are real and reliable. The property runs at 60 to 70 percent occupancy mid-week, which means real upgrade space.

Best and worst weeks to book

Best weeks: mid-week in late January (post-CES, pre-Super Bowl), mid-week in March (good weather, no major event), mid-week in summer June through August (110 degrees, but the pool is the point and rates drop to $90 a night), and mid-week in late October (post-EDC, pre-F1, post-summer).

Worst weeks: CES (first full week of January), Super Bowl week (first week of February in 2024 and 2026), EDC (third weekend of May), F1 (third weekend of November), and the week of New Year’s Eve. Rates triple or quadruple. The property runs at 100 percent and the casino floor is unworkable.

The hidden value week is the week before Thanksgiving. F1 wraps up the prior weekend, the city empties, and Virgin Hotels drops to under $130 a night for a Premium Chamber. Weather is 70 degrees and dry.

Trade-offs

The property is off Strip. The free shuttle helps but does not replace being on Las Vegas Boulevard. If your trip is club-heavy or show-heavy with multiple Strip stops per night, the Uber bills add up.

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Olives Mediterranean restaurant

The casino is good but not at the scale of the Strip. The Mohegan Sun loyalty program is separate from Hilton Honors and does not earn or redeem points across the systems. If you play seriously, the comp structure is weaker than Caesars or MGM.

The pool deck is excellent but small relative to Encore Beach Club, Wet Republic, or the Cosmopolitan pool. If pool day-clubbing is the trip, this is not the right hotel.

The hotel does not have a real spa on property as of mid-2026. The wellness offerings are a small fitness center and a couple of treatment rooms in the Opal Tower. If a spa day is part of the trip, plan to leave the property.

The Theater venue is closed. If you booked Virgin Hotels for a specific concert at the Theater, double-check the venue before you fly.

3 Curio alternatives if Virgin Hotels is sold out

  • The Hollywood Roosevelt, Curio Collection by Hilton. Different city (Los Angeles), but the same vibe of a music-and-entertainment Curio with a real pool scene. Walk to the Walk of Fame. Standard award rates run 60,000 to 90,000 points. Worth a flex if your trip is West Coast and entertainment-focused.
  • Hotel Figueroa, Curio Collection by Hilton. Downtown Los Angeles. Modern, well-restored historic property, walk to the Crypto.com Arena and Staples Center. Smaller and quieter than Virgin Hotels but with similar urban-Curio energy. Standard award rates 50,000 to 80,000 points.
  • The Diplomat Beach Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton. Hollywood, Florida. Beach instead of casino, but the same big-property scale (1,000 rooms), big pool deck, multiple restaurants. The right call if you want the resort feel without the Vegas trade-offs.

FAQ

Is Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on the Strip?

No, the property is at 4455 Paradise Road, about 1 mile east of the Strip and across from the Las Vegas Convention Center. The free shuttle runs every 30 minutes to the Strip. Walking takes 20 minutes. Plan to use Uber or the shuttle if your trip involves multiple Strip stops per day.

Which tower should I book at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas?

Opal Tower, almost always. Opal is the highest-finish tower and the only one with reliable Strip views from rooms above the 17th floor. Canyon is the middle option and works for short stays. Ruby is the bottom of the property and has slow elevators that require walking through a connector hall to reach the casino floor. Skip Ruby unless it is the only thing available.

What is the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas resort fee and parking cost?

The resort fee is $50 per night plus tax. Self-parking is $20 per night for hotel guests, valet is $35. Diamond status gets free self-parking, which the property does not advertise on the website but applies the comp at checkout.

Does Diamond status get lounge access at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas?

Yes, Diamond members and all suite guests have access to the Commons Club Lounge. The lounge serves continental breakfast 7 to 10 AM, snacks 4 to 6 PM, and a free cocktail hour 5 to 7 PM. This is one of the few Hilton lounges in Las Vegas and is the strongest reason for Diamond members to choose this property over Conrad at Resorts World.

When is the cheapest time to book Virgin Hotels Las Vegas?

Mid-week (Sunday through Thursday) in summer, June through August. Rates drop to $90 to $150 per night for an Opal Grand Chamber Suite. The trade-off is 105 to 110 degree daytime heat. The pool deck is open and shaded, but plan indoor activities for midday. The week before Thanksgiving is the second-best window with mild 70 degree weather.

Both the rate and the resort fee change quarterly. Mohegan Sun casino loyalty is separate from Hilton Honors and does not cross-credit.
