My stay

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront in May 2022. It’s a Hilton Hotels & Resorts property on Avenida Menendez, across from Matanzas Bay in the historic district.

I booked a king room as a Standard Room Reward at 70,000 points a night, 140,000 in all.

Parking posted at $32.00 a night plus $2.08 in tax, $68.16 for the 2 nights. My confirmation had listed valet at $28.

Charges at Aviles, the hotel restaurant, came to $40.56. A $30.00 Hilton Honors daily food and beverage credit covered $30 of it. No destination charge posted.

How I rated it

3.9 out of 5, scored with the method on my rating page and only the facts above.

  • Points value: fair. Standard kings returned 0.36 and 0.47 cents per point, and the award price has risen from 70,000 to 90,000.
  • Diamond benefits: a $30 Hilton Honors food and beverage credit posted on my stay.
  • Location: strong for the historic district, with the beach 3 miles away.
  • Cost beyond the room: valet at $40 a night and the $21 destination charge on cash stays.
  • Room condition: my records don’t cover the room, so it doesn’t move the score.
